Adding to his accolades, Ivan “Flipz” Velez is a legendary B-boy, TV Host, and international breakdance judge. He is currently preparing to judge the final qualifying rounds for the Paris 2024 Olympic breaking competition. Known for his signature move, the “Prayer Flip,” which he performed in the hit movie “You Got Served,” Flipz has appeared in 36 feature films and 17 major dance films, including “Honey,” “Stomp the Yard,” “Step Up 3D,” and “Battle of the Year.” He has toured the world with top International music icons, including Madonna, Missy Elliott, Spice Girls, and LL Cool J. Flipz is also the founder of Skill Methodz Crew, one of the most elite B-boy crews in the world.
His profound knowledge of the history and techniques of breaking is unparalleled. The Olympic Channel recently sent Flipz to South Korea to discover top Olympic talent for the Paris 2023 games. Red Bull engaged him to host BC One breakdancing competitions in 16 locations worldwide.
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Flipz started his dancing and gymnastic training at an early age but didn’t get into breaking until his family moved to Miami when he was in junior high school. He honed his skills and became known in breaking competitions as “the guy that flipped,” thus his nickname, “Flipz,” was ignited.
Remembering the childhood house fire he saved his family from, Flipz created FOOTPRINTZ. This foundation gives back to underserved communities through dance education workshops that provide industry knowledge and clothing donations to its participants. Flipz is based in Los Angeles with his producer wife and their dogs.
