Theoni was born in Greece but now resides in Los Angeles to pursue acting. She majored in Dramatology in Greece and is getting ready to graduate from the acting academy in July. Theoni opens up to us about coming out as pansexual and the hurdles she overcame to accept who she was, all achieved by love.🎙 Key Points: 🎥 Making art during a pandemic💬 Connecting with people during the pandemic👩🏻💻 YouTube channel Blend It🏳️🌈 Pansexuality😱 Fear of change🙋🏾♂️ Male and 🙋🏽♀️ female gender roles🥴 Stay Uncomfortable🎭 Playing a character, you do not understand🌎 World traditions 🎙 Episode Highlights:[03:28] Theoni walks us through life before and after the pandemic hit. Just two months prior, Theoni has started attending an acting academy, so when everything shut down, she felt a sudden feeling of helplessness. Though it did not take long for her to get into the momentum of creating art, making multiple short films with her classmates all online![07:01] Theoni stands by love and how it can answer anything when used in the approach. Love is how she remained sane throughout the pandemic; she expressed it through text, facetime, and even made a short film titled I Am Here. [10:00] Theoni's YouTube Channel that she co-hosts is called Blend It is a show focusing on blending different cultures and learning just about anything they have to offer, especially food![11:44] Having been born in Greece, Theoni was not well versed in the array of sexual orientations. She knew that she liked both genders but did not connect with being bisexual. Once moving to LA, she discovered Pansexuality and immediately knew this is where she belonged. However, Theoni admits to having reservations about it in the beginning.[17:13] Theoni and Jay discuss the concept of fear and change. They both agree that it is natural to be fearful of change; in fact, Theoni states that it is a primary human survival mechanism. Now in the internet age, we are exposed to various people, which can serve as a bridge to understand each other.[20:44] No one is perfect, and Theoni is the same. People will make mistakes, and if you ever find yourself misgendering someone, Theoni states that the best way to approach it is simply by apologize and make it known that you come from a good place.[25:20] Jay and Theoni get into male and female gender roles. What is "acceptable" to wear and behave? Theoni offers the example of skirts and how in many ancient civilizations, men wore skirts, even in a battle where Greek men would flash the enemy as a means to distract them.[31:50] Theoni and Jay emphasize the importance of staying uncomfortable. To evolve as a person, you must lean into the unknown rather than remain stagnant in your beliefs. [35:51] Theoni shares with us how she approaches playing a character with whom she does not understand or shares morals. Circling back to love, Theoni shows compassion to those who choose hate since they are the ones who have to live a life of contempt.[40:22] Jay and Theoni get into world tradition and its unique aspects.[43:36] Connect with Theoni 🎙Connect with Theoni: Instagram | @theonibekiari YouTube: Blend ItShort Film: I Am HereLinktree

Summary:In today’s episodes of The Tragedy Academy, Jay welcomes singer, songwriter, and soon-to-be actress Amy Lerie. Amy shares with us her story that began with tradition and conformity, but that ended with fulfillment and purpose, all because she decided to follow her dreams.Key Points: 🎙Being your most authentic self🎙Pivotal moment🎙How has the pandemic affected you?🎙Finding empathy🎙Living in the Present moment🎙The latest release, and what’s next?🎙Inspiration meditationEpisode Highlights:[00:00] Amy Lerie was born and raised in France but now resides in London. She chose London to pursue her music career because; 1 – it’s almost like a 2nd French city and 2 – all of her music is in English, so that she would need an English audience. [03:52] Amy shares with us the life path she was initially following before pursuing music. Coming from a traditional family, Amy went to school to become a teacher, which in France is a 40–45 year commitment, but after three years, she realized that this life did not make her happy. In 2014 she took a leap of faith and left the ministry of education to move to London. [11:00] Jay emphasizes how important it is to be your most authentic self. Amy shares an anecdote where people tried to compare music to teaching, saying they were similar because they were both in front of an audience.[13:22] Amy describes the pivotal moment when she realizes that teaching is not what she wants to do. She recounts feeling numb and dissociative, similar to having a mini existential crisis. Luckily, she had a circle of friends who understood what she was feeling. [18:11] In her time during the pandemic, Amy shares with us the good and the bad. On the one hand, she describes this time as brutal; people around her tried to convince her to reconsider following a life of music, which made her feel guilty about her decision. On the other hand, she was surrounded by people who supported her.[23:10] Amy walks us through where she gained her empathy. She recounts her dad as a good man; he built a family from nothing and did it without being loud or selfish and always looking out for others. From this, Amy credits her empathy.[27:51] Amy describes herself as being bubbly, the energetic one. Though she tells a story of a time, her mom said to her, “I think you need to calm down,” which broke her.[33:02] Amy shares with us the importance of living in the Present moment. She gained this perspective through a podcast with J Shitty. He states that you do not understand what you’re doing in the present moment, but you’ll look back and know what this moment was leading towards in ten years.[36:18] Amy goes into her latest release, Higher. Her aim for this song was to adopt a country sound, which she could do thanks to an artist she met in Nashville.[39:38] What’s next? Amy gives us a quick rundown of what she has planned for the future, which included auditions, pursuing musical theatre performances, doing a full album, and touring.[41:01] Inspiration, Inspiration, Inspiration. Amy and Jay discuss how the pandemic will make or break you. For some, it birthed the confidence to pursue their dreams, while it forced them to quit for others. For Amy, she used this time as inspiration for her art.[43:31] Jay and Amy share their love for meditating. They both agree on its necessity and how it allows you to reset and clean up before getting your day started.[51:01] Connect with Amy[52:41] OutroConnect with Amy:- Website: AmyLerieMusic.com- Instagram- Spotify- iTunes Bio: Amy Lerie is a French artist and singer-songwriter. Summary: In today's episodes of The Tragedy Academy, Jay welcomes actress and director Christine Twyman. Chrissy breaks down the concept of trauma and presents a method of healing by art. Christine advocates that through art, we can create a space for trauma intervention.Key Points: Advocating for trauma intervention via artWorking with people who are only interested in the monetaryUnderstanding traumaIntegrating with your traumaRecognizing that it's not our parent's faultMen are oppressing themselvesEpisode Highlights:[00:00:31] Introduction to Christine Twyman [00:03:04] Jay introduces Christine's goal of advocating for trauma intervention via art. She describes this as a society, and there are several issues the prevent people from getting trauma intervention, and one way to receive these interventions is through art. Why? Because art is one of the few things that can connect everyone in some way. [00:06:36] Christine admits filming is a strange medium to create in because it is one of the few spaces where business and politics interject. Unfortunately, it's almost impossible to separate them.[00:08:19] Christine makes it known the intent for someone to make art solely for money does not bother her if only they allow her to do what needs to get done.[00:12:12] Christine and Jay give their interpretation of ego. Where ego is more of a persona and how people perceive things.[00:14:04] Christine portrays that we are all traumatized children and confesses that she has grown more as an actor by understanding other people as she learns about herself while she unpacks her life.[00:17:32] Christine confesses her love for writing, even more than acting. Writing is the most exciting thing to do; it releases parts inside of you didn't even know you had.[00:22:11] Christine brings up the topic of violence in mass manipulation. From a young age, both women and men are conditioned to fall into specific gender roles, and if they dare to venture outside of that, there will be repercussions.[00:24:45] Christine tells us the critical role of past traumas how the goal is not to forget about your past but to make amends with it. It's a matter of integrating, not removing. She also shares the many pieces of herself she's learned from unpacking her mental illness.[00:26:57] Christine recognizes that it's not our parents' fault for how they raised us. The generational gap is normal, and it is our duty to create a better world for future generations by bridging those gaps. [00:31:19] Christine breaks down the types of violence in life; 1st violence is physical abuse, and 2nd violence is psychological and emotional. People do not usually quantify emotional violence as violence.[00:33:24] Jay details his life growing up in a disenfranchised area of the south, where people blamed their struggles on each other when they should be blaming the system. Christine labels this as crabs in a barrel.[00:36:00] Christine and Jay agree on the notion that men are oppressing themselves. Men learn that they are not allowed to feel what makes them human. Christine states that to oppress the female class, men have to believe that there's something wrong with them at all. [00:39:34] Christine and Jay discuss the animosity we create within ourselves and how to identify microaggressions, referencing White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo.[00:44:05] Jay gives an anecdote when he passed judgment on a friend who just had his tooth chipped.[00:46:20] Christine gives us a quick rundown of commedia dell'arte, aka SNL 1.0.[00:50:30] Christine and Jay agree on art being a part of evolution. It's a tale as old as time; it's something we need. It creates connections and serves as an outlet for the ego.[00:54:47] Christine and Jay reflect angry pieces of art and what it means to make something with which you disagree.
